Steak is one of the favourite dishes of mankind and till now beef is still one of the most consumed types of meat. Steaks differ in cuts, sizes, and flavour. They have a different level of tenderness, marbling, and juiciness. However, each type of beef cut has something delicious to offer. But what is the difference between different cuts of beef? 1. Rib-Eye Steak

An all-time favourite of the majority, rib-eye is one of the most flavourful and juiciest steaks. Rib-eye is cut from the centre of the rib section and comes boneless or with rib bone still attached, the latter is also known as cowboy steak. Rib-eye has a ton of flavour, and is usually thicker than a tenderloin cut, making it difficult to overcook. Rib-eye is also the most marbling cut of beef, where the fat both within the meat and surrounding the edges make the steak so juicy and flavourful.


2. Filet Mignon

Filet mignon, also known as tenderloin, is the steak cut that is cut from the section of beef tenderloin, a long, cylindrical muscle that starts from the ribs and ends at the rear of the cow. Tenderloin is the least weight-bearing muscle, which makes the steak extremely tender, and results in a soft and buttery texture. This type of beef cut is the most popular and delicate cut of steak, due to its exceptional tenderness and texture. Filet mignons usually are between two to three inches thick, which makes them perfect for the grill.


3. Striploin Steak

Striploin, also known as sirloin, is a boneless steak that is cut from the sirloin section, near the rear of the cow. Striploin steak is an affordable cut of beef that comes with a very pleasant beefy flavour. This cut of steak has a nice tenderness unless it is overcooked. After past medium, steak can get tough. Striploin are perfect for grill or quick stir-fries.


4. T-Bone Steak

T-bone steak is a huge cut of beef that is popular for having soft tenderloin and meaty strips. This cut of steak consists of two steaks, the striploin and delicate tenderloin, which are separated by a T-shaped bone. This is also the reason why this cut of steak is favoured by the majority. T-bone steak is cut from the section of the loin.


5. Flank Steak

Flank steak is cut from the back section of the abdominal muscles that comes as one large flat piece of meat. This type of steak is usually a tougher cut of beef, but when prepared properly can be nicely tender. Flank steak is perfect for sharing with family and friends. This steak is best when grilled over high heat.
